The idea of offering home visits for pets was born after I experienced some slightly disappointing experiences with my own pets. I felt the care lacked a truly tailored approach that considered not only physical health, but also behavioural wellbeing, temperament and the individual needs of each pet.
For many animals, a veterinary clinic can be an intimidating place.
This is especially true for cats, anxious pets, older companions.
Unfamiliar spunds, strong smells, the presence of other animals can be overwhelming. Many pets associate the clinic with previous negative experiences or painful procedures, which can increase fear and stress before treatment has even begun.
Home visits offer a gentler alternative. A pet’s natural behaviour can be observed in its everyday environment, which can provide valuable insights into health concerns, mobility issues, lifestyle factors that might not be apparent in a clinic setting.
In many cases, recovery and healing improve when pets remain in a safe, quite, familiar environment. Reducing stress can support overall wellbeing and may even contribute to better treatment outcomes.
Home visits are particularly beneficial for :
- Cats (creatures of habit, dislike travel and feel safer in their own environment)
- Elderly pets with mobility issues
- Pets recovering from a illness or surgery that will benefit from ongoing reassessment and adjustment of treatment
- Multi-pet households
- Owners who prefer a calmer, more convenient experience
For many pets, receiving care at home
can make all the difference !
